Empire of Shadows is the eighth episode of the seventh Torchwood Big Finish season.
Starring Shaun Parkes as Zachary Cross Flane reprising the character he had played in the Doctor Who TV story The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit and the first time that he has played the character under the Torchwood as Zack in the said TV story identified himself as an operative from Torchwood.

Set in the far future, Zack, along with a Torchwood associate Chloe attends the opening of the library that is in honour of the late Empress.
What ensues is a thrillride as it soon delves into the late Empress' son and successor, the current Emperor and what a shocker the information that is made of the Emperor and how he got to where he is.
The said revelation about the Emperor certainly made this story an outstanding one for Parkes to reprise Zack.
