This episode along with the first episode And The Crown of King Arthur were presented as a double episode marking the series debut and both were written by series developer John Rogers and directed by Dean Devlin who had produced the three The Librarian TV movies.
One of the regular characters Jacob Stone is played by Christian Kane. Kane is an alum on Leverage (2008-12) and perhaps not coincidentally it was co-created by The Librarians developer John Rogers and had Dean Devlin as executive producer.
Leverage in some of its episodes has had Doctor Who references and The Librarians has been described to be like Doctor Who.
Hearing the bells ringing just as the Library was literally folding up felt akin to the cloister bells of the TARDIS in Doctor Who.
Interesting introduction to Jenkins played by John Larroquette and obviously meant as the series comic relief.
Funny that Ezekiel substituted the Star of Marrakesh with a bag of jelly beans at the Tower of London.
Quite daring after their theft at the Tower of London and they then proceeded to gate-crash Buckingham Palace.
Cassandra saves a dying Flynn by using the powers of Excalibur who died in the process. The manner that this was presented felt akin to River saving a dying Eleventh Doctor by using her remaining regenerations in Doctor Who: Let’s Kill Hitler.
I had been worried that Flynn was going to be killed off as I knew that Noah Wyle was a guest star and not the lead of the series, an impression that has certainly been given with his wound being slowed down not healed before he was ultimately saved by Cassandra with Excalibur.
However there is an explanation why Flynn is going off somewhere else as he is looking for the lost Library somewhat like the Doctor looking for Gallifrey in Doctor Who.
It will be certainly interesting to see how the new team handles things without the familiar element that is Flynn.
